My grandparents immigrated to this country from Italy. They were also seeking the American Dream. I’m thankful for their vision and sacrifice many years ago.
I think it says a lot about our country that people from all over the world still want to immigrate and become Americans today. We should be honored.
It’s much harder to immigrate legally in our day. I know many good people who have had to work very hard to become citizens. Some of them — even from Europe — still have never made it. That’s one reason why we have good people crossing our border illegally. They want a better life and have no choice but to sneak in. I can’t blame them.
However we can’t just disintegrate our borders and open our country wide to anyone and everyone like we did a few generations ago because there are some people who want to destroy our way of life. They pose as everyday people but they hate America, and seek to destroy her from the inside. They hate the very life and liberties that previous generations fought and died to protect.
The real challenge for President Trump is to figure out how to let the good ones through and keep those who hate us out. All politics aside, I honestly believe that’s what he’s trying to do.
We should stop fighting amongst ourselves and really study the issues. The mainstream media likes to pit us all against each other. It makes for good ratings. Maybe they are the real problem.
