Periodically, Hasbro has replaced one or two of their famous Monopoly playing tokens, the pieces in your game may help date the game you own. The iron was replaced with a cat in 2013. Other historical pieces that have been retired and replaced were the horse & rider, cannon and bag of money. Now they are retiring the thimble, boot or shoe and the wheelbarrow, after receiving over 4 million consumer votes, they have just announced their 3 new playing tokens.
The results are in. The eight Monopoly tokens that will pass GO in the next generation of the popular board game have been announced.
With World Monopoly Day set to be celebrated tomorrow the game’s maker Hasbro have revealed which tokens will be included.
That means the Scottie dog, top hat, car, battleship and cat will return.
They will be joined by the rubber ducky, T-Rex and penguin.
