A growing number of cities and some states are deciding for themselves that they are going to defy federal law and federal law enforcement officials. At the same time, they still want millions of dollars of federal funding to help them defy the federal government.

That makes as much sense as employer paying an employee to disobey and go against company policy and do their own thing, even if it’s illegal.

Sanctuary cities have been around for a few years, but the issue came to a head in July 2015 when an illegal shot and killed 32-year-old Kathryn Steinle. As I reported back then:

“As a parent, how would you feel today after learning that an illegal alien deported five times was responsible for shooting and killing your daughter?”

Kathryn Steinle, 32, was walking along the crowded Embarcadero pier in San Francisco when she collapsed on the pier after the family heard several loud sounds they said sounded like gunfire. Her father tried to give CPR to his daughter, but to no avail.”

“Francisco Sanchez, 45, is an illegal from Mexico who has been deported five times. His stories about what happened remind me of Hillary Clinton’s stories concerning the attack on the US Embassy compound in Benghazi, Libya in that it has changed and still makes no sense…”

“Sanchez had last been arrested in March by San Francisco police. He had seven felony convictions on his record which demands that he be arrested and deported. San Francisco authorities contacted ICE officials to come and pick him up and ICE asked them to keep him in custody until they could come and get him. Typical for San Francisco’s ultra-liberal ways, they released Sanchez back out on the streets before ICE agents could arrive to take him into their custody.”

That’s when news that San Francisco was a sanctuary city, a safe haven for illegals, hit the media. Liberals applauded San Francisco for harboring illegal aliens like Sanchez, but Americans with any sense of decency and patriotism were outraged by the city’s actions. Yet, it should be no real surprise to learn this about San Francisco, since they are one of the original bastions of homosexuality and gay rights. They even made gay city councilman Harvey Milk into some sort of hero instead of the pervert he really was.

However, when liberals placed sanctuary cities and illegal foreigners over American citizens, even most supposedly patriotic conservative Republican candidates refused to take a public stand against illegal aliens or sanctuary cities. The ONLY presidential candidate that had the guts to say how wrong it is to allow millions of illegals to remain in the US and how wrong and illegal it is for a city or state to declare themselves to be a sanctuary haven for law breakers, was Donald John Trump.

Trump promised voters that if he was elected, he would take action against sanctuary cities and states. He won the White House on that promise and others, and now that he is vowing to keep his promise, the liberal media and politicians are turning on him.

In a recent interview with Bill O’Reilly before the Super Bowl on Sunday it was reported:

“President Donald Trump said he’d consider pulling federal funds from California if it follows up on its threat to become a ‘sanctuary state’.”

“But, he added in Sunday’s interview with Fox News’ Bill O’Reilly, he’d rather not be forced to take such a drastic measure.”

“‘I think it’s ridiculous — sanctuary cities,’ Trump said in the interview that aired on the Fox broadcast network ahead of the Super Bowl. ‘As you know, I’m very much opposed to sanctuary cities. They breed crime. There’s a lot of problems.’”

“‘We give tremendous amounts of money to California. California in many ways is out of control,’ Trump said.”

“Asked by O’Reilly if defunding sanctuary cities and states would be his ‘weapon of choice,’ Trump replied, ‘Well, it’s a weapon’.”

“He added: ‘I don’t want to defund the state or a city. I don’t want to defund anybody. I want to give them the money they need to properly operate as a city or a state. If they [are] going to have sanctuary cities, we may have to do that. Certainly, that would be a weapon.’”

Not only should Trump hold back every penny from every sanctuary city and state, including California, but federal charges should be brought against every local and state official responsible for defying federal immigration laws and places American citizens like Kathryn Steinle, in danger.
