It has been announced that US President Donald Trump and Russian President Vladimir Putin will probably meet in July. Some are hoping that the meeting could mend the rift between the two world leaders, but others are questioning the timing of the announcement at the time when Congress has launched an investigation of allegations of collusion between the Trump campaign and Russian officials.
A meeting between President Trump and Russian President Vladimir Putin could mend the rift between the two nations, a Kremlin spokesman said Sunday.
Dmitry Peskov told ABC’s “This Week” that relations between the U.S. and Russia are “maybe worse” than the Cold War, but a meeting between the two sides have a chance to repair divisions.
“I think if two presidents meet each other, if they exchange views, then there will be a chance for our volatile relations to get better,” Peskov said.
Putin previously suggested that a meeting could take place in July when Trump travels to Germany for the G20 summit or at a later summit for the Arctic Council in Finland, according to the New York Post.
